Learning Specialist/Endeavor Teacher
Grades 9-12
Full Time, 7:45 am - 3:45 pm
Position Overview
Franklin, a visionary grade 9-12 co-educational school located in Jersey City, is currently offering in-person academic programming for the 2025-26 school year. We are seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic High School Learning Specialist/Endeavor Teacher to begin in the Fall of 2025.
Departmental Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
- Liaise regularly with classroom teachers, Endeavor Lead, Dean, School Counselor, and Director of Curriculum and Assessment regarding student progress.
- Communicate regularly and in detail with parents regarding student progress, no less than once every two weeks.
- Design and implement lessons aligned with classroom curriculum to support skill development and content understanding.
- Provide one-on-one academic and executive functioning support based on best practices for students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
- Provide high-level content area support in one or more of the traditional academic disciplines (English, History, Math, Science).
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring all students feel valued and heard.
Faculty Responsibilities
- A full teaching load is 23 periods (21 teaching periods and 2 professional learning periods per week)
- A faculty member’s teaching load can be made up of Core teaching (Endeavor), Academic Care classes, and the Franklin Skills curriculum
- A teacher under full load will be allocated supervision, substitute classes or a combination of both
- Unless running a club or coaching a sports team, faculty can expect to be placed into a weekly rotation system for Franklin Tutors supervision which occurs from 3:30-4:30pm. Additionally, all faculty, including those who run a club or coach, are expected to lead Franklin Tutors and Behavior Remediation Sessions once per trimester.
- Faculty are expected to participate actively in Franklin’s Professional Learning Program, engaging twice weekly in both collaborative and individual learning.
- Faculty are expected to be working remotely on their curriculum and Canvas requirements, from August 15th.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Learning Support or a related field required
- Master’s Degree in Learning Support or a related field preferred
- At least two (2) years of relevant, full-time high school Learning Support teaching experience strongly preferred
- Past success teaching students with varying skill levels and learning styles
- Experience with thoughtful integration of technology
